Organised by Goa Tourism in association with organising committees

in 14 cities of Goa

Panjim Shigmo 2012 parade was the worst organised this year.

It looks like the floats or the participating groups were organising it and not the Panjim Shigmotasav Samiti.

Many floats that were ready to roll on to the streets simply refused as they wanted their float to go later on. Some of the giant mythological characters were seen headless or wingless or covered faces to prove they are not ready although they were there since 4pm.

Huge gaps were seen upto to 30 minutes gaps on 3 occasions.

Whereas the last two were stuck up in the middle due to some technical problems which finaly arrived at Azad Maidan after 11pm off beat.

Again, there was a delay at Azad Maidan for more than 30 minutes, probably waiting for the City MLA cum Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who was welcomed amidst spectacular fireworks at the Maidan. Mr Parrikar was the chief Guest and assured the floats and the programme at Azad Maidan will get over by 10pm next year (This year it got over at midnight).

Like in the past, this year too 3 artistes are felicitated included Filipe Pereira a tiatr Artist, Pardurang Parab & Khemraj Tari - Gumat / Pakhwaj players.

There were less floats and dance groups such as Romtamel, Goda modni and other folk dances and floats.

Amongst the individual participants (Fancy dress), I like the Abade Farria (Statue Replica, see pic) and Dr. Ambedkar (See pic) which got first prize. Besides there were Ravans, Sai baba, Kali Mata etc
