Chapel of St. Francis Xavier and the Well (SFX resided here when in Goa)

It is believed that St. Francis Xavier  when in Goa resided at this place and said prayers / Mass at the Chapel that was existed in its place here.
It is also said that St. Francis used to take bath or wash his feet at this well located next to the Chapel.
There were reports of sighting a lighted candle (reflection) into the well and many resident devotees (who came during the SFX feast novena etc) were visiting this well every year for drinking water and the sighting of the candle in the well

Vasco Saptah 2013

Vasco Saptah but where all the feri (Fair) gone?
Anyway, we enjoyed our favourite hot-hot jelibies which are prepared onsite.
Rs.200 per kg

This is after so many years, I have been to this night time event.
Still remember the chanting of Janba or nyanba Tukaram.
The deities of that time were so huge but they become lot smaller now.

Here are some pics and videos.

Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola (Basilica of Bom Jesus) 31.7.2013

http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauk62/8216209863/in/photostream/

Believe me or not, for many years or till I was about 20,  I thought  the above life-size Image we see on the Main Altar is of St. Francis Xavier (SFX). The Sacred body of  SFX in a silver casket lies in this church so the Saint on the Main Altar got to be SFX...  I believed so did many others.

What profits a man,” Ignatius asked Francis, “if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”

'aplo atmo pirdar korun, koslo faido akho Sounsar jikon ?'

That was the turning point of Francis life who then joined Fr. Ignatius and was ordained in 1537.

St. Ignatius Loyola  founder of  the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) was born on 24th Dec. 1491,
15 years before SFX and died 31st July 1556 at 65,  4 years after SFX  died at 46 (3.12.1552)

The feast celebrated at Bom Jesus Basilica on 31st July 2013 and the feast Mass was at 6pm
Archbishop  Filipe Neri Ferrão was the Main Celebrant and there were about 50 co-celebrants

Budbudyanchi tali (Bubbling Pond) at Netravali, Sanguem, Goa

Our First Visit
6th July 2008
Today we left for Netravalim in Sanguem Taluka at 8.am (to visit buddbuddeamchi toli)

We first went to Margao, then took a bus to Sanvordem (Rs.12 one hour) then a another Bus to Netravali (Rs.15 another hour)  as the buses to Netravali are after a long gap, we decided to take a taxi (Rs.700 o/w). Netravali is about 35kms from Sanvordem.

One can also reach Netravalim via Quepem- Tillamol-Rivona.

From the main road, the ‘Talli’ is about 1km (on another road to Canacona/Karwar or Netravali - Gaondongrim Road).

At the ‘budbudeamchi Talli’  we saw  the budbudde (bubbles) coming our from the ground under the water (pond).  We were hoping for a bigger ones but it was tiny bubbles which we often saw in any other ponds.  However,  the bubbles oozing out from the ground was very frequent and from every where and that what we found very unusual.  Also, here it looks very beautiful in clear water.

After about half an hour, we saw some local School kids having fun in the same pond- bathing, swimming, diving etc as can be seen in the video

As it was raining and also it involves climbing (mountain) for a bout 45 minutes, we decided not to visit the nearby Netravali waterfalls.

We were back home by 6pm after having lunch at Longuinhos Margao.

We used public transport every where (except one taxi).  We travelled standing in a crowded minibus for 70 long minutes from Netravali to Tillamol Road  (the experience we will never forget) from where we took another bus to Margao.

Check this out – the pics

Our Second Visit
9th July 2013

The same road (Gaondongrim-Netravali) in Canacona that goes to Ambheghat falls also goes to Buddbuddyamchi Tolli (Sanguem).
It was raining all day long as can be seen in the video and as such could capture much of 'bubbles' in the pond and hence our previous visit footage added to the video.

We then took Rivona Road (I did not know Rivona was so big) then via Zambaulim (Shigmo) then Tilamol - Quepem Road, Paroda, Sao Jose de Areal, MES Camp, Rawanfond Margao..
